Isabel Rodriguez

Isabel Rodriguez began studying classical dance at the age of six, training with Vanda Ribeiro da Silva, Anna Mascolo and Margarida de Abreu.

Over the following 14 years, she broadened her training with Portuguese and international teachers in Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Modern Dance, Jazz and Choreology, among other disciplines.

In 2000, she began studying Flamenco and Sevillanas in Portugal and has since continued her training in this field in Seville and Granada.

She began teaching Sevillanas and Flamenco in 2004 and has continued working as a teacher ever since.

In 2006, she co-founded the group Gitanillas, with which she created several shows. Over the years, she has performed in numerous theatre productions and Flamenco events.

In 2009, she opened the Isabel Rodriguez Dance Studio.

In 2013, she founded the Flamenco group Son Aires de Andalucía, which enabled her to develop her work as a teacher, choreographer and artistic director.
In November 2015, she was a guest dancer at the Lisbon Flamenco Festival, held at Casino Estoril.
In December 2016, she worked as choreographer, dancer and artistic director of an inclusive dance project with CERCIOEIRAS.
In October 2017, she was a guest dancer at the “Jantar Entre Dois Águas” event, held as part of the Lisbon Flamenco Festival at the Altis Grand Hotel.
Also in October 2017, she performed in Yolanda Soares’ “Royal Fado” show at Teatro Tivoli BBVA in Lisbon.
In March 2018, she once again performed in Yolanda Soares’ “Royal Fado”, this time at Coliseu do Porto.
Since 2011, she has worked as choreographer, dancer, producer and artistic director of annual Flamenco and Sevillanas productions:
2011 and 2012 Convento de Santos-o-Novo, Lisbon;
2013 – Franciscan Cultural Centre, Lisbon;
2014 ”Influências” – Centro Cultural Franciscano, Lisbon;
2015 “Fusões Improváveis” – Auditório Camões, Lisbon;
2016 “Returning to the Classics” – Marist Auditorium Carcavelos;
2017 “Raízes” – Auditório Maristas Carcavelos;
2018 “Inspiraciones” – Teatro Armando Cortez/Casa do Artista, Lisbon;
2019 “Emociones” – Teatro Armando Cortez/Casa do Artista, Lisbon;
2021/2022 Creation of the show “Volver” as Choreographer, Dancer and Artistic Director with the group Son Aires de Andalucia.
